Amanullah Qureshi and Haji Mukhtar Ahmed of Ginner Group were elected unopposed as chairman and vice chairman (North zone) of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA), respectively. The election for vice chairman (south zone) will be held after the end of the ongoing rains spell in Sindh.
According to unofficial result, no other candidate turned up to file nomination for any office till the end of the stipulated time. Later, addressing a press conference, chairman, Ginners Group Haji Muhammad Akram, Shehzad Ali Khan, Shaikh Muhammad Saeed, Tariq Amir Mushtaq Ahmed along with the chairman-elect Amanullah Qureshi and Vice Chairman North Mukhtar Ahmed Khan said that the 15-member Central Executive Committee, Chairman and Vice chairman have been elected unopposed.
They said that their opponents did not dare to contest elections and stay away from the polls. They announced to collect funds at district level for helping in rehabilitation of flood-affected people of Sindh. They reiterated their demand to declare the rains-affected areas as calamity-hit waive all taxes.
