Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Nisar Ali Khan, on Saturday strongly reacted to the press conference of MQM chief Altaf Hussain, terming it as "wastage of time, worst example of political jugglery, and complete joke with the people of Pakistan".
He said: "He (Altaf Hussain) pointed out flaws in all political forces, except MQM...Irony is that he spoke on each and every issue but completely ignored the masses' problems". He said: "It was mere wastage of time and nothing was uttered on the real issues of the masses. It was worst example of political jugglery and complete joke with the people of Pakistan". He added that the nation at this time is facing serious challenges like lawlessness, extremism, price hike, unemployment, load shedding of electricity and gas besides other uncounted problems. "But the 'person' sitting in London and talking about revolution, has not only disassociated with the masses' problems but also did not even bother to mention their problems during his long speech rather made mockery of people of Pakistan", he said, adding that one can only pray for peace in Karachi after watching the press conference.
Nisar also tagged the MQM's chief press conference with lacking objectivity, saying that he never saw during his political life a press conference of any political leader which was so disorderly and aimless. The leader of the opposition said that the whole nation wanted the MQM chief to answer the allegations levelled against him by former senior Sindh Minister Dr Zaulfiqar Mirza.
"Today, the nation wants MQM chief to respond the serious allegations against him and not 'singing songs'. As far as the facts are concerned, he said, it was against the prestige of a political leader to distort the facts in such a way that the entire nation was deaf and dumb, adding that the masses should not be ridiculed that they would not be able to differentiate between the lie and truth.
He also called the MQM chief's allegations on Jamaat-i-Islami for bloody incidents on May 12, 2004 as a 'joke' and urged that Altaf Hussain should confess his mistake for joining hands with a military dictator Pervez Musharraf for the bloodshed instead of accusing others for the same. The leader of the opposition also lashed out at the rulers for being silent spectators in the current scenario, saying that they were busy in their foreign tours instead of bringing the real facts to the fore. He said that irony with the people of Sindh was that on the one hand Karachi was bleeding while its leader was singing 'Paredy Mein Rehnay Do, Parda Na Uthao", while on the other hand interior Sindh was facing devastating floods.
