World Literacy Day: positive attitude of teachers key to maximum enrolment

The positive attitude of the teachers is the key to maximum enrolment of the students and to stop the alarming drop out rate to enhance literacy ratio in the province. These viewpoints expressed by the educationists while addressing a special ceremony held in connection with the World Literacy Day at Government Higher Secondary School No 1 Peshawar.
High-ups of education department, teachers and students from different schools of city circle Peshawar attended the ceremony. Speakers on this occasion shed light on the importance of education. The speakers stressed that getting education is the basic right of every child. They called for steps to protect this right.
Syed Sakhawat Shah, ADO City Circle, Peshawar, while addressing the function asked the teaching community to create favourable learning atmosphere in public-sector schools to attract maximum number of children who are out of school. He also directed teachers to honour the basic right of every child to get education.
Similarly, Sajjad Rasheed, ADO, highlighted the importance of co-curricular activities. He said that co-curricular activities are indispensable for character building of the students. Earlier a walk was also arranged to observe the Day. The walk which was started from EDO office culminated at Government Higher Secondary School No 1 Peshawar. The participants were carrying banners and placards inscribed with the slogans of "Education is the right of every Child".s
