Major shake-up in FBR: 30 top officials of IRS redesignated

In a major reshuffle at the Federal Board of Revenue, the government has transferred and posted 30 top officials of Inland Revenue Service (IRS) and appointed Shahid Hussain Asad (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21) Director General, Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation (Inland Revenue) as new FBR Member Inland Revenue Wing FBR.
According to a notification issued here on Friday, Shahid Hussain Asad would also hold the Additional Charge of DG (I&I IR) for supervising the exercise of documentation and broadening the tax-base. As new FBR Member IR, he would be responsible for dealing with all matters of tax policy, revenue collection, enforcement and compliance in the field formations.
Khawar Khurshid Butt, FBR Member Inland Revenue Wing FBR has been transferred and posted as Director General, Directorate General of Training & Research (Inland Revenue), Lahore. Asrar Raouf (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), Additional Secretary, (Revenue Division) Revenue Division, Islamabad has been given new assignment as Director General, Special Initiatives, Karachi. Asrar Raouf remained as the most efficient official involved in tax policy matters of direct taxes and played a key role in resolving issue of GST on services between federation and Sindh Revenue Board (SRB).
Muhammad Raza Baqir (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20), Chief Commissioner, Regional Tax Office, Karachi has been transferred and posted as Member, (Administration) (OPS) Federal Board of Revenue (HQ), Islamabad. Shahid Nasim (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21) from Director General, Directorate General of Training & Research (Inland Revenue), Lahore would report to FBR (HQ), Islamabad.
The FBR has also transferred and posted 25 officers of the Inland Revenue Service (BS-21 and BS-20) with immediate effect and until further orders.
