The Karachi Port handled 93,830 tonnes of cargo including 80,475 tonnes of import cargo, 13,355 tonnes of export cargo and 2,766 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 80,475 tonnes comprised of 27,308 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,787 tonne of general cargo; 20,380 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,536 tonnes of wheat; 14,275 tonnes of coal; 3,569 tonnes of fertiliser and 26,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,355 tonnes comprised of 11,661 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,187 tonnes of general cargo and 507 tonnes of cement. Four ships namely Jakarta Express, Ocean Friend, Nizar-M and Patriotic with container ship, bulk cargo ship, wheat carrier and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Five vessels viz Pacific Friend, San Marino Trader, Liberty Promise, Al-Soor-II and Al-Mirqab carrying two general cargo ships, car carrier, oil tanker and container ship respectively are currently at the berths. Two ships namely Al-Mirqab and Gifted carrying two container ships respectively expected to sail on Friday, while five ships namely San Marino Trader, Green Field-1, Kota Akbar, Al-Soor-II and Fade-1 carrying general cargo ship, DAP carrier, container ship, oil tanker and wheat carrier respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
Four vessels viz Gitted, APL Chicago, OOCL Charleston and Lodestar Genesis carrying three container ships and MEG ship respectively due to arrive on Friday, while two vessels viz Uru Bhum and Hansa Century carrying two container ships respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total export cargo of 21,526 tonnes includes 3,489 tonnes of cement and 18,037 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely CV Glory and MV Ioanthi carrying containers and urea sailed out to sea on Friday morning.
A total number of seven vessels CV Glory, CV Nysted Maersk, MV Mohammad Prince, MV Sapphire-II, MV Ioanthi, MT Agility and MT Mire are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, urea, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours. Three ships namely Dubai Express, New Challenges and Al-Salam-II carrying containers and diesel oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.
A container vessel viz Dubai Express expected to take berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Friday, while two container ships namely CV MSC Aurelle and CV MSC Natalia are due to arrive on the same day. A total number of seven container ships namely CV CMA CGM Bellini, CV Maersk Kingston, CV Maersk Missouri, CV ACX Hibiscus, CV ACX Lily, CV HS Bruckner and CV Anvil Point are also due to arrive at Port Qasim.
