The Swiss franc rose against the dollar and the euro on Friday after a jobs package announced by US President Barack Obama failed to ease recession worries, though gains were contained as investors balked at taking on the Swiss National Bank. The franc rose 0.4 percent against the dollar compared to the New York close to trade at 0.8712 francs. Against the euro the franc inched up 0.3 percent to trade at 1.2114.
