Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar received the Iranian Foreign Minister Dr Ali Akber Salehi here on Thursday. The Iranian Foreign Minister is on a two days' visit to Islamabad to lead the Iranian delegation to the 18th Session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Economic Commission. The Pakistan's Finance Minister Hafiz Sheikh is leading the Pakistani delegation to the Joint Commission.
The Two Foreign Ministers discussed at length bilateral relations including measures to strengthen and deepen bilateral economic co-operation. The Ministers also discussed the global political situation including developments in North Africa and the Middle East. Both Ministers underscored the importance of regional connectivity and the role of the Economic Co-operation Organisation. The two Ministers agreed that the outcome of the 18th Session of the Joint Economic Commission would provide important inputs for Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza's visit to Iran from September 12-13, 2011.-PR
