Pakistan Customs Officers Association has announced to go on an indefinite strike following the arrest of two custom officers Mohammed Riaz and Farhan Bhatti. This was decided in an emergency meeting held here on Friday. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested the said officers on the charges that both officers had attested a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which benefited an importer.
Earlier officials of Corporate Circle of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed to have arrested three persons including two custom officers and a custom agent over the charge of custom duty fraud. According to FIA officials, the agency had arrested two custom examiners Iftikhar Bhatti and Riaz and a custom agent Azharullah Khan in this connection. They said the accused were reportedly involved in minting millions of rupees by committing fraud on account of customs duty. They said a case 5/11 was registered against them.
