Appointments in BISP: fate of 100 candidates in doldrums

The appointment of 100 candidates in Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) on the basis of favouritism has been in doldrums for last eight months despite removal of Director General, Sindh, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Akbar Aleem Shamim on alleged issuance of bogus letters to favourite candidates.
Establishment Division has constituted a committee of senior bureaucrats to probe into the allegations that Akbar Shamim has been involved in misconduct, fake signatures, unethical behaviour, especially harassing female colleagues and other complaints of similar nature.
While talking to Business Recorder, Shamim refuted the allegation and said that the female colleagues who are being used as instrument against him have been alleviated to assistance director BISP, Punjab as a reward. He further said that he has received the formal charge sheet and he is ready to counter these allegations.
It has been reported that Akbar Aleem Shamim, on April 6, 2011 wrote to his director, secretary/managing director of the BISP in Islamabad and other concerned and insisted that he had not signed what he called the bogus offer letters of candidates who applied for certain posts in BISP. Shamim wrote a letter to concerned quarters in Islamabad, to highlight the issue of bogus offer letters to 100 appointees in Sindh.
The letter, whose subject was explanation-issuance of bogus offer letters of 25 assistant directors, 25 assistant complaints, 25 Naib Qasids and 25 Chowkidars and also contained the list of all those appointed through the alleged bogus offer letters. But the BISP head office in Islamabad, instead of inquiring into the matter, issued an office order on April 8, 2011 asking the officer to immediately leave the office.
Meanwhile, the Establishment Division has been approached to initiate an inquiry against the officer on charges of sexual harassment. He was conveyed through the same letter that he had come to know that these appointments were made in his name and bear purportedly his signatures, which he disowned.
