Efforts being made to control violence in Karachi: Qaim

The Sindh Chief Minister Sayed Qaim Ali Shah said that political and administrative efforts are in the way to control violence in Karachi. He said that Sindh Police and Rangers are doing their job satisfactorily and there is no need to call the Army in Karachi. This he observed while talking to the reporters/media persons after laying chaddar on the Mazaar of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA) in connection to conclude his 3-day observation of 759th urs at Sehwan Sharif this evening.
The Sindh Minister responding to a question said that the President of Pakistan is also keen to restore law and order in Karachi and has conducted meetings in this regard. He said that negotiations with all the stakeholders are in progress and officers of Sindh Police and Rangers have been directed to maintain the law- and-order situation in Karachi. To another question, Sayed Qaim Ali Shah said, though MQM has been sitting on opposition benches even then negotiations with its leaders are going on to return them to treasury benches under reconciliation policy of PPP democratic government.
He said that our country doesn't afford the politics of confrontation as such PPP initially implemented policy of reconciliation with all pro-democratic political forces to keep the country on the right track of prosperity. Responding another question about conducting local government's elections, the Sindh Chief Minister said that we have revived the old local government system recently and are actively engaged in re-slating the things and added that the elections of local bodies to be followed by this job.
He said that today he came to offer fateha on the Mazaar of great soofi saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar to conclude his annual urs observations and also to pray for the development and prosperity of Sindh province. Earlier, the Sindh Chief Minister soon after his arrival at Sehwan Sharif came at Dargah of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar where he offered fateha and laid the chaddar on his Mazaar. He also inspected the on-going development works at the dargah. The Sindh Chief Minister inquired about the pace and quality of works from the officers concerned and directed them to complete the works within due time. He took round in the dargah and inquired about each work.
Later, the Sindh Chief Minister distributed the clothes among poor women in the courtyard of dargah and also visited emergency medical camps each established by Sindh People Student Federation (SPSF) and Sindh Auqaf Department outside the dargah. The Sindh Chief Minister lauded the efforts for providing first aid to ailing devotees on the spot and added that this was noble work which should be rewarded by Almighty Allah.
The Sindh Minister for Minorities, Mr Mohan Lal, Commissioner Hyderabad Division Ahmed Bux Narejo, Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro Nasir Abbas Soomro, Provincial Secretary Culture Abdul Aziz Uqaily, Secretary Auqaf and other officers were present on this occasion.
