The authorities continued to place the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman in occupied Kashmir Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and other Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Zafar Akbar Butt under house arrest to prevent them to visit Kulgam where a woman was gang raped by Indian troops.
Heavy contingents of Indian police personnel have been deployed outside the residences of these leaders and they have been asked not to venture out, KMS reported on Saturday. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Zafar Akbar Butt are under house arrest since Friday while Syed Ali Gilani since Wednesday. Indian occupational police had arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front- R leader, Javed Ahmad Mir from his residence on Friday morning and lodged him at Maharaj Ganj police station in Srinagar.
