With a view to ensure provision of essential items at cheaper rates to people under Ramazan Package, the Punjab government has decided to constitute supervisory committees at tehsil and district level. These committees will be consisted of 12 members at district level whereas there will be six members at tehsil level.
These committees will supervise functioning of Ramazan Bazaars so that essential items could be provided to the people in abundance at cheaper rates. This decision was taken at a special meeting held under the chairmanship of Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, here Saturday.
Provincial Finance Minister Kamran Michael, Provincial Minister Zakat and Ushr Nadeem Kamran, Provincial Minister for Food Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor, Bilal Yasin MNA, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Information, Secretary Industry, Commissioner Lahore and DCO Lahore were also present on the occasion.
The meeting decided that traders' community, civil society, elected representatives and officers of industry, agriculture and food departments would be included in supervisory committees at district level. The meeting further decided that Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, will supervise the relief steps being provided to the people under Ramazan Package in Lahore, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar in Rawalpindi division, Provincial Food Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor in Gujranwala division, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan in Faisalabad division, Provincial Finance Minister Kamran Michael and Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Begum Zakiya Shah Nawaz in Sargodha division, Provincial Minister for Industry and Trade Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa in D.G.Khan division, Provincial Minister for Prisons Malik Iqbal Channar in Bahawalpur division Provincial Minister for Zakat and Ushr Nadeem Kamran, in Sahiwal division and would select suitable persons for setting up supervisory committees.
These committees would be set up till July 29. The meeting also decided that the ghee manufacturing companies would sell ghee of their brand at their sale point. Similarly rate of chicken meat would be fixed on daily basis which will be sold from Rs 5 to 6 less than the market rate. Similarly, sugar dealers will sell sugar at Rs 68.70 per kg at special sale point. Zulfiqar Khosa directed that a vigilant eye should be kept on the prices during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and foolproof security should be provided in Ramazan Bazaars.
