Mixed sentiments prevailed at Lahore Stock Exchange on Friday where equities, after moving up and down, ended with marginal gains amid marginally increased trading turnover.
LSE-25 index slightly improved by 3.91 points and ended at 3203.99 against 3200.08 of Thursday while transaction volume rose to 2.963 million shares compared with the previous volume of 2.734 million shares.
The market opened on a positive sign and stayed in the green zone during the first trading session following fresh buying in Habib Bank, National Bank, Lucky Cement, OGDC, PSO, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Arif Habib Securities and Nimir Industrial Chemical. Bullish sentiments could not continue in the second session, as investors started offloading of their holdings in Fauji Fertiliser, Engro Corporation, Fatima Fertiliser, Sui Northern, Attock Refinery, NetSol Technologies, PTCL, Faysal Bank and Engro Polymer and Chemical.
As a result, the market slid down but managed to stay in positive zone with marginal gain. The gainers were more than the losers. As many as 27 companies, out of a total of 112, posted gains, 21 registered losses while values of 64 companies remained unchanged at their day earlier closing. Among the gainers, Service Industries improved by Rs 9.85, Habib Bank gained Rs 2.07, Lucky Cement was appreciated by Rs 1.91, while OGDC was up by Rs 1.42.
In the minus column, Fauji Fertiliser declined by Rs 1.23, Noon Sugar Mills lost Rs 1.00 while Engro Corporation and Fatima Fertiliser were down by 33-paisa and 26-paisa respectively. Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim was the market leader whose 540,259 shares changed hands followed by Nimir Industrial Chemical with 349,441 shares.
