The World Sports Journalism Day observed on Saturday under the auspices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Writers Association (KP-SWA) here at Qayyum Sports Complex. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Sports, Syed Aqil Shah was the chief guest on the occasion.
Amjad Aziz Malik, President of the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation, Saiful Islam Saufi, Peshawar Press Club, (PPC), Arshad Aziz Malik, and President of the Khyber Union of Journalist (KhUj), along with office-bearers of different sports associations were attended the ceremony.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Sports, Syed Aqil Shah, while speaking on the occasion, assured the sports journalists for fully co-operation and support, and termed that sports journalism is paramount for promotion of any sports in the world. He called upon the sports journalists to work out for the promotion of sports activities in the province. He said that the sports journalists should highlight remarkable performance of young sportmen, who were achieved milestone in the field.
The minister also lauded the efforts of male and female sportsmen, who had embarked world journey for promotion of culture, and traditional values for which celebrating July 02 as World Sports journalism day. He said the responsibility of sports writers is vital to inform anything happening about sports in the world. President Pakistan Sports Writers Federation, Amjad Aziz Malik, President KhUj, Arshad Aziz Malik, president PPC, Saiful Islam Safi and President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Writers Association Kashif Uddin also spoke on the occasion.
