The Met Office has advised the farmers of Punjab, Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa and North-eastern Balochistan to irrigate crops carefully as more monsoon rain during the next 10 days are expected. According to the fresh Met Office's farmers advisory, Punjab, Kashmir, Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Balochistan, parts of Northeast Balochistan and Sindh are expected to receive rain, thunderstorm with isolated heavy showers from July1 to July 10.
The office has advised the farmers to irrigate the crops with caution and in line with its updated forecasts. It says the farmers can delay irrigation in areas where monsoon rain continues falling. The advisory warns that gusty winds are likely to blow in the monsoon belt of the country in the next 10 days. Dust storm and gusty winds are expected in the lower agricultural plains of the country, it adds.
The Met Office forecast five to seven percent more monsoon rain in the northern parts of the country including Northern Punjab, Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. In the southern parts of the country including Southern Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh monsoon rain is predicted 10 percent below normal for the season. Monsoon rain is expected normal to slightly above normal by 10 percent during in the country, the Met Office says.
Temperature is expected to fall by 1-2 degree centigrade in areas of Punjab, Kashmir and adjoining areas of Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa, which are being affected by monsoon currents. Temperature may remain unchanged in the lower half of the country including Balochistan and Sindh, the forecast says.
