1st of July has assumed double significance in the history of Pakistan. On the 1st of July 1948 the Quaid-e-Azam had inaugurated the State Bank of Pakistan and had thus taken a solid step for the economic stability of the country and today ie on the 1st of July 2011 Quaid-e-Awam's dream for the grant Provincial Autonomy to the provinces is being fulfilled.
Though it took some time to materialise the concept of Provincial Autonomy but at long last we have translated into reality the vision of Quaid-e-Awam regarding grant of Provincial Autonomy to the provinces. We haven't reached at the pinnacle of success in a trice. Thousands of PPP workers have rendered untold sacrifices.
Today the soul of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto will be extremely happy that his party has fulfilled his dream regarding grant of Provincial Autonomy to the provinces. History is witness to the fact that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto during his short stint in office worked day and night to serve the nation. His daughter Shaheed Benazir Bhutto too during her two tenures in office worked with zeal and determination for the welfare of the people and even gave her life for them. The PPP has, during the past 3 years or so, implemented a couple of poor-friendly projects like the BISP, Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package, NFC Award and the grant of Provincial Autonomy to the provinces which will have a far reaching positive effect on the welfare of masses.
Our political adversaries have been busy in inventing new scandals and are indulging in horse trading but our allies under the chairmanship of Raza Rabbani has done an outstanding job which has earned him kudos. The provinces today feel themselves extremely healthy after decentralisation of powers to them. The success of the PPP in Azad Kashmir election was in fact, victory of the people of Pakistan.
The PPP provides hope to the teeming millions of working class. The PPP has always been in the forefront of fighting for the rights of the people. We have to do a lot more. Our struggle is not over yet. Through political struggle we will have to ensure the Pakistan enters in the camp of developed countries. It was late Bhutto's dream that every Pakistani should have access to the basic necessities of life. We will strive towards creation of an egalitarian society. Insha Allah
