Message from President of Pakistan

Yet another promise of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto stands fulfilled today. All promises made by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto have been fulfilled. Today the PPP is translating into a reality that vision of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto which is known as provincial autonomy in the political parlance.
Every single word of the 1973 constitution is a living testimony of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's political acumen. He knew that Pakistan stability lay in autonomous provinces and he had promised that he will grant provincial autonomy to the provinces in due course. We are all custodians of Bhutto's dreams. Nobody should be under the misconception that we are just counting our days in power. We are the sort of people who dream of better future for the people of Pakistan and to translate into reality our vision and a positive proof of this is that today at the start of the financial year we are giving to the nation the gift of provincial autonomy.
It would be uncharitable not to mention here the tireless and political acumen of the parliament committee charged with the task of grant of provincial autonomy. The chairman of the said Committee Raza Rabbani played a key role in fulfilling the dream of Quaid-e-Awam about the grant of provincial autonomy. The PPP doesn't believe in mere slogan-mongering, kite flying and empty boasting. Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had told his political heir Shaheed Benazir Bhutto that her political heaven lay in her service to the people.
It is this passion for the service of the common man that has enabled the PPP to win laurels at every step. The NFC award, the BISP, Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package, 18th amendment, Crusade against terrorism, struggle to strength state institutions and grant of provincial autonomy are some prominent endeavours which the PPP can be genuinely proud of. We are busy round the clock thinking about new projects for the welfare of our people. We are proud of the martyrdom of our leaders for the sake of Pakistan's security and people's well being. We promise you that in future too we will never hesitate to give our lives for Pakistan.
While we exchange greetings on the grant of provincial autonomy, let us not forget that a great responsibility has now fallen on the shoulders of the provinces. With power comes responsibility also. Let us work together, shoulder to shoulder in making Pakistan a heaven in the true sense of the word so that the dream of our martyred leaders is fulfilled.
