ISLAMABAD: The Senate was informed on Wednesday that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is well on track to achieve tax collection target of 4,013 billion rupees fixed for the current fiscal year.
This was stated by Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Baligh-ur Rehman during Question Hour.
He said FBR has collected 764.9 billion rupees in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, registering a growth of 22 percent against the correspondent period of the last financial year.
He said FBR was required to achieve a growth rate of 19.15 percent, whereas it has registered a growth of more than 22 percent in the first quarter, which indicates good performance of the bureau.
To another question, Baligh ur Rehman said over fourteen hundred animals of worth over thirty-five million rupees have been seized during the last two years to check smuggling of live animals on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Answering a question, Minister of State for Industries and Production Arshad Laghari said that salaries of employees of Pakistan Steel Mills have been paid till September.
He said the federal government is paying 380 million rupees monthly for salaries of PSM employees.
