Power demand increases to 2,000 megawatts

The power demand on Monday increased to 2000MW due to rise in mercury. Power generation stood at 14019MW against a demand of 16009MW, leaving the system with a shortfall of 1990MW. Power generation through hydel, thermal, IPPs and RPPs remained 5485MW, 1783MW, 6583MW and 168MW respectively. Power supply to the KESC was 650MW.
It may be noted that the DG Pepco Muhammad Khalid told in his weekly briefing that notice period to KESC for payment of pending Rs 28 billion dues has completed a few days ago, followed by a three day notice from now onwards. He said power supply to the KESC would be disconnected in case it failed to pay the dues.
