The Federal Budget 2011-12 was presented in the Parliament on Friday under a heavy security blanket in Red Zone, particularly outside the Parliament House. The stringent security measures were taken on the occasion of Federal Budget, as Pakistan Rangers and Frontier Constabulary were deployed to assist the Islamabad Police to avoid any untoward incident.
The personnel of Pakistan Rangers, Frontier Constabulary, Anti-Terrorist Squad and Islamabad Police remained on high alert while commandos were deployed on rooftops in Red Zone.
People having special passes were only allowed in the parliament premises and complete ban was imposed on processions and protests outside the Parliament House. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani had issued instructions to make sure that security must be tightened in the city and also directed combing in slums.
Extra deployment of police and other law enforcement agencies' personnel was made at important locations of the city including chowks and signals, while police commandos have been deputed around sensitive locations and important buildings while special police teams have been constituted by each police station for effective patrolling within its respective jurisdiction.
