Mixed trend on LSE

Mixed sentiment prevailed at Lahore Stock Exchange on Friday where equities moved both ways amid volatile situation and ended with marginal gain of 1.35 points on account of last-hour buying. The LSE-25 index improved to 3250.71 points from 3249.36 of Thursday while volume reduced to 2.455 million shares as compared to 2.542 million shares.
The market opened on a negative note and stayed in red zone during first trading session. Engro Corp, MCB Bank, Habib Bank, PPL, Nishat Mills, Nishat Chunian, Arif Habib Corp, Nishat Chunian Power, and Kohat Cement ended in minus column.
The market could not improve in the second session and remained ranged bound. However, last-hour buying in National Refinery, OGDC, PSO, Thal, Lucky Cement, D G Khan Cement, Fauji Fertiliser, Nimir Industrial Chemical helped in market recovery.
The gainers were marginally ahead of the losers, as out of 105 active issues, 25 companies registered gains and 22 went down, while 58 companies remained unchanged. National Refinery gained Rs 10.00, Thal improved by Rs 3.28, Lucky Cement appreciated by Rs 2.39, OGDC was up by Rs 1.20 and Flying Cement gained Rs 0.95.
Engro Corporation lost Rs 1.45, MCB Bank declined by Rs 1.31, Habib Bank depreciated by Rs 1.05, Treet Corporation was down by 59 paisa and PPL lost 40 paisa. Fauji Cement was market leader whose 709,750 shares changed hands, followed by Bank of Punjab with 477,557 shares.
