Islamabad conveys 'strong concerns' to Kabul

Pakistan on Thursday conveyed 'strong concerns' to Afghanistan on the cross-border attack by militants in Dir district in which at least 27 security forces troops and three civilians were killed. Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir conveyed Pakistan's concerns to Afghan government on the cross-border attack launched from Afghanistan in Dir by some 300-400 militants, who raided villages and burnt schools, says a Foreign Office statement here on Thursday.
The foreign secretary stressed the need for stern action against militants by Afghan Army, US and Nato/ISAF forces. "Pakistan's concerns were also brought to the attention of the US and Nato," the statement added. The clash in the Dir district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa began on Wednesday and lasted for over 24 hours and Pakistani forces regained the control of the area.
