Copper futures fell on Wednesday as investors turned cautious on fears of further monetary tightening in China and the health of the US economy ahead of key economic data. The most-active August copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange slipped 0.4 percent to 68,310 yuan per tonne.
Prices for base metals fell across the board, with the LME and ShFE complexes shedding 0.1 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively, on a volume-weighted average basis.
