Pakistani interest extinguished in China Open Boxing Championship, underway in Guiyang (China), after both remaining Pakistan boxers - Mohammad Waseem and Amir Khan suffered defeats in quarterfinals. Mohammad Waseem lost his quarterfinal match to Rey Saludar of Philippines by a score of 6-7, 10-12, 12-15.
However, the skillful Pakistani pugilist was a victim of partial decisions as he deserved win after a good show in third round. Wasim, fighting in 52-kg weight category, deserved several points in the final round but only got two points against 3 to Saludar, which led to his defeat.
Wasim said he was disappointed with result "I am very disappointed as I deserved victory," he said. Meanwhile, Amir Khan (64kg) Amir Khan lost to Sakenov Ermek of Kazakhstan by 9-14. Nisar Khan and Sardar Mohammad had earlier bowed out of the tournament.
