Federal government has decided the schedule of Population Census, which would commence on September 12 to run until 27th, highly informed sources of Sindh government disclosed this to Business Recorder, here on Monday. They said that Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had given the approval of dates of census a few days ago and Population Census Organisation has also written letters to Provincial Census Commissioners for 'training of trainers' in this regard.
The office of Sindh Census Commissioner has also received this letter and they will send the list of trainers for training within next couple of days. In this connection, Sindh Census Commissioner, Noor Mohammad Laghari met Chief Secretary Sindh, Abdul Subhan Memon at his office, here on Monday. Noor Mohammad, who came back from Islamabad last Sunday, informed the chief secretary about the forthcoming census, sources added.
When contacted, Noor Mohammad Laghari confirmed that officials of Islamabad have confirmed him dates for conducting the census, which would be held from 12th to 27th September 2011. He said that they completed the process of house-listing peacefully and now preparing for conducting the census in all 23 districts of province. He said he took house-listing task not as a job but as a kind of national duty because nation's development depends on correct house-listing and census.
To a question, he said that 15 days are enough for them to complete the census, adding they will enhance the number of enumerators during the process. He informed that they have sent the report of house-listing to the headquarters in Islamabad while the FQL is still continuing in Karachi and will take more time for completion. Replying another question, Laghari said they are working on the formulation of standard size blocks so that the number of blocks during the census could be increased.
