The Chief Collector of Customs, Northern Region Aftab Anwar Baloch has issued directions to all collectors to personally monitor revenue collection on a daily basis for meeting the assigned target by end June 2011. It is learnt here on Monday that according to the instructions, the collectors must ensure that the target assigned to them during the current fiscal year is not only achieved but surpassed by a big margin.
The Federal Board of Revenue had assigned revenue target of Rs 3219 million to the Collectorates of the Northern Region for the month of May 2011. An amount of Rs 3358 million has been collected up to May 28, 2011 surpassing the assigned targets by Rs 139 million. In order to achieve the target for the fiscal year 2010-11, an amount of Rs 7763 million is to be collected during the month of June 2011.
The Chief Collector, Northern Region has issued directions to all Collectors to personally monitor the revenue collection on daily basis and ensure that the target assigned to them during the current fiscal year is not only achieved but surpassed by a big margin. The Chief Collector also advised the Collectors to issue instructions to all adjudicating officers under their jurisdiction to give priority in deciding the case involving higher amount of revenue so that the revenue involved therein be realized before the close of the current financial year, Aftab Anwar Baloch added.
The Chief Collector also directed all other collectors that the amounts detected during DTRE audit in their respective Collectorates should also be recovered till June 30, 2011. All the Collectors committed to achieve the target assigned for anti- smuggling operations by the end of June 2011. All the Collectors were advised to take co-ordinated effort in this regard and the Deputy Collectors in charge of anti- smuggling operations in each Collectorate shall co-ordinate with Assistant Collector in the Chief Collector office, Chief Collector instructions added.
