Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in a recent communication apprised chairmen Board of Investment, Islamabad and Sindh that during the recent visit of a delegation of the chamber to Switzerland, they were able to attract Swiss investors to invest in the city.
The chamber further stated that some American Investors are also going to visit the city shortly for investment in various sectors. Similarly, Russian investors are also interested in investing in coal, power, and oil & gas sectors of the city.
However, it said certain people in Sindh government machinery do not want such investment in the province, especially in Hyderabad and surroundings. To quote an example, he said one of their valued members invested millions of rupees in Lakhra Coal Mines Project for power generation but Secretary Coal and their staff are creating a lot of hurdles in implementation of the same for 'some vested interest'.
HCCI called upon the government that if such hindrances and hurdles are not removed, the chamber including its associate trade bodies will strongly stage protests against the vested interest.
