Two more patients including a child have died at Civil Hospital Quetta on Thursday due to young doctors' strike continued on 50th consecutive day. Talking to APP, Medical Superintendent Civil Hospital Quetta Dr Nabi Bakhsh Bugti told that one victim patient was identified as Shehbaz Khan, resident of Balili area of Quetta and another a child whom father Rozi Khan, the resident of Kuchlak town admitted his ill son in serious condition to the hospital where he died due to doctors' strike.
The MS alleged that young doctors on strike had been forcing other doctors deployed at Emergency and Labour Room not to perform their duties there and join protest strike. When contacted, President Young Doctors' Association Dr Abdul Samad Panezai said young doctors were ready to end their strike if the provincial government increases their salaries in the line with the federal government and other three provinces.
He claimed that a young doctor in Balochistan was getting only Rs 12000 per month salary, which was insufficient to meet kitchen expenditures of their family in this era of rising price hike. He said young doctors had been continuing their strike as neither the Chief Minister called them in for a meeting nor the provincial government responded to their demands for increase in salaries and other allowances in the line with other three provinces. Meanwhile, a large number of relatives of victim patients and visitors to the hospital staged demonstration in front of the hospital raising slogans against both provincial government and young doctors.
