Fakhar Zaman elected Sufi Council President

Chairman of the Pakistan Academy of Letters Fakhar Zaman has been elected first president of recently established International Sufi Council. Scholars, intellectuals and writers from different countries have voted in his favour for the post, said a news release issued here.
The objective of Sufi Council is to highlight soft image of Pakistan in the world and promote the message of Sufi poets throughout the world. The council will hold conferences and seminars and also initiate various publication projects. It will also set up a research centre.
