Abbottabad operation: probe commission's extension sought

Speakers at All Parties Conference (APC) on Wednesday sought extension of inquiry commission formed by the parliament in-camera session regarding Abbottabad operation to examine collateral damages and losses in the US drone attacks and security forces operation in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
The United States should respect sovereignty and independence of Pakistan and stop excessive drone strikes in tribal areas, they demanded. The speakers called for reviewing foreign policy and shunning pro-US policy for establishing lasting peace in this part of region, especially in the tribal belt.
The APC was held under the auspices of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) FATA against the US drone attacks on Pakistani territories, operations of security forces, terrorism and target killings in the country, particularly in Fata. Sahibzada Haroon Rashid, JI Ameer Fata and former MNA presided over the conference. The keynote speakers were JI Naib Ameer, Zar Noor Afridi, Ameer Mohmand Agency, Dr Munsaf Khan, PTI organiser Fata, Haji Iqbal Afridi, JUI-F from Mohmand Agency and former MNA, Ghulam Mohammd Sadiq, General Secretary FATA, Maulana Syed Kabeer, Maulana Sami-ul-Haq, PPP-Sherpao Fata, Asad Afridi Advocate, President Fata Students' Federation, Haroon Lucman Afridi.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahibzada Haroon Rashid suggested for calling a Loya Jirga meeting (grand council) to sort out amicable solution of issues being faced by people in tribal areas. Following the suggestion, the APC announced to form a committee in this regard.
Ghulam Mohammad Sadiq, from JUI-F Mohmand Agency in his address called for probe against US drone strikes and operation of security forces. There was no justification of killing and targeting innocent people, he maintained. Former MNA asked the government to form a special commission to examine damages and probe in unauthorised foreign aggression in tribal areas. He demanded for implementation of Prime Minister's commitment to amend Frontier Regulatory Reforms (FCR).
Iqbal Afridi, PTI Chief Organiser Fata said that the elected representative had failed to bring reforms in Fata in this regard. He said that his party had always opposed foreign and internal aggression inside tribal areas. He said the rulers were responsible for the deaths of innocent people. The country's integrity and solidarity was at stake due to prevailing situation in FATA. In present scenario, he said the rulers were reluctant to attend public meetings. He called for implementation of joint resolution of the parliament to address the growing unrest in Fata and rest of the country.
Malik Taj Mohammad Orakzai, Malik Sher Azam, Zahir Shah Safi Advocate, Mualana Sami-ul-Haq, Mualana Syed Kibeer, Haroon Lucman Afridi, Asad Afrid Advocate were among the speakers. They said the US drone attacks were against integrity and solidarity of the country, and demanded of the government to shun US appeasement policy and stop growing foreign intervention in the country.
