Pakistani artists' exhibition in Singapore concludes

Group exhibition of selected artwork of 13 Pakistani artists for charity ended in Singapore after running for a week quite successfully and attracting good number of art lovers. According to the information received here Tuesday, a record number of 56 out of 75 paintings displayed in the group exhibition were sold out.
In order to generate maximum possible funds, three paintings of Pakistani artists were also auctioned. Large number of art lovers including Pakistani community members and other foreigners stationed in Singapore visited the exhibition, evinced keen interest in the selected artwork of prominent artist of international repute Jimmy Engineer and others and made interesting queries from the organisers. As already announced by the organisers, proceeds from the sale of paintings of calligraphic on display in the group exhibition were to be donated towards assistance, relief and rehabilitation of the affectees of massive earthquake in Japan and devastating floods in Pakistan.
The exhibition titled "Artistic Fusions From Pakistan" was inaugurated by the Ambassador at Large in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of National Heritage Board Singapore Tommy Koh at the Art House in the Old Parliament Lane. Famous Pakistan Movement series of paintings and recent architectural compositions of Pakistan of Jimmy Engineer were also on display in the exhibition and were of special attractions for most of the visitors to the exhibition. The exhibition of the Pakistani artists was organised by the Pakistan High Commission in Singapore, the Art House, Sony Entertainment and the Friends Entertainment in collaboration with the Revivers Galleria, based in Gulberg Lahore.
Prominent Pakistani artist Jimmy Engineer donated canvass print of one of his paintings depicting Pakistani architecture to the Institute of South Asian Studies of Singapore. According to a message received here, Jimmy Engineer made the presentation during his visit to the institute in Singapore. The visit of the Pakistani artist to the Institute was arranged by the Pakistan High Commission in Singapore and its officials accompanied Jimmy Engineer. The visit was arranged after Jimmy Engineer had come to know that the Institute of South Asian Studies of Singapore had no material, in any format, on and about Pakistan. Ms Sara Anjum has since returned home from Singapore after closure of the exhibition and is very happy and encouraged with the results. She said in a statement on her arrival that a number of paintings of Jimmy Engineer and other artists were readily sold out. She said a number of art lovers had requested for continuation of the paintings' exhibition but it was not possible to accede to their persistent requests for various reasons.
Besides prominent Pakistani artist of international fame, Jimmy Engineer, other 12 artists included Iqbal Hussain, A.Q. Arif, A. S. Rind, Abrar Ahmad, Amjad Butt, Mansur Rahi and his artist wife Hajra Mansur, Maham Gul, Mashkoor Raza, Mussarat Arif, Salman Farooqi and Tariq Javaid who hail from Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi/Islamabad and other parts of the country.
