Transfer of offenders between Pakistan, Uzbekistan: Cabinet likely to give approval for talks

The federal cabinet, in its meeting to be held on May 25 (today), is likely to give approval for initiating negotiations on an agreement regarding transfer of offenders between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
The sources told Business Recorder here on Tuesday that the meeting which would be held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday would also ratify the memorandum of understanding between the governments of Pakistan and Turkey in the field of maritime co-operation signed on December 7, 2010 during the prime minister's visit to Turkey.
The cabinet meeting is also likely to grant approval for initiating negotiations for visa abolition between the governments of Pakistan and Jordan for diplomatic and official passports holders. The meeting may also approve initiation of negotiations on agreement on promotion and protection of investment with Hungary.
It is expected that the cabinet meeting would also give approval for negotiations on the agreement for establishment of joint commission between the governments of Pakistan and South Africa. Starting of talks on an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan is likely to be allowed by the cabinet. The meeting would also discuss restructuring of Industrial Development Bank of Pakistan and review report on the Bank's affairs.
A presentation would be given on consumer price index in the country to oversee and discuss the trend of prices of essential commodities in the meeting. Confirmation of decisions taken by the Economic Co-ordination Committee of the Cabinet in its meeting held on May 7, 2011. The meeting will also review the status of implementation of the cabinet decisions.
