In occupied Kashmir, veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Geelani has strongly denounced the imposition of curfew and restrictions in Srinagar city and house arrest of the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other leaders by the authorities to thwart the Eidgah rally.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Ali Geelani in a statement in occupied Srinagar said that the government of India and its regime in the occupied territory were playing a dangerous game by usurping the democratic rights of the people through state hooliganism. The government has simply handed over the administration to the police who are keen on dealing with every matter through the stick and gun, he said.
New Delhi has imposed ban on political parties through the might of its armed forces and police in held Kashmir and history bears witness to the fact that these parties have always thrived on hooliganism and undemocratic means, he said. He warned the authorities of serious consequences against imposing a blanket ban on peaceful public gatherings and usurping democratic rights of people.
Paying tributes to the prominent martyred liberation leaders, Mirwaiz Moulvi Mohammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone, on their martyrdom anniversaries, the veteran leader said that the best way to honour and remember the martyrs of May 21 would be to take their mission to its logical end.
