Director General, Inter-Services Intelligence General Ahmed Shuja Pasha on Friday left himself on the mercy of the parliament to decide his fate during an in-camera joint session of the Parliament. This impression was finally confirmed by Raiz Fityana, a Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q).
While talking to media persons after attending the joint session of the two houses of the Parliament, which was briefed by leadership military leadership and DG ISI over the May 02 US raid in Abbottabad. "If the parliament wants, I am ready to quit," Fityana quoted General Pasha as telling the in-camera joint sitting of the parliament. The parliamentarian further said that the military establishment was ready to present itself before an inquiry body if the parliament decides to set up a commission to investigate into the May 02 incident.
To a question whether sloganeers of "shame, shame" were also raised during the session, Fityana expressed ignorance saying that he could not witness such slogans in the house, however, he added that some parliamentarians including those from PML-Q stood up in front of their desks when PML-Q's chief Chaudhry Shujat Hussain was speaking.
He said that a relation of respect persisted from both the sides during the briefing, adding that the confidence of the parliament was raised due to the briefing. To a question about country's foreign policy in the wake of US raid, Fityana said that the military leadership was of the view that it was ready to abide by any decision taken by the parliament.
