LSE index down 16.79 points

Negative sentiments prevailed at the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) where equities closed in red zone amid declining transaction volume on Thursday. The LSE-25 index declined by 16.79 points and was closed at 3207.81 points against 3224.60 points of Wednesday, while transaction volume further squeezed to 01.937 million shares, as compared to previous volume of 02.911 million shares.
According to brokers, the market that opened on a negative note remained in red zone almost throughout the day. The investors were not showing any interest to take fresh positions. Millat Tractors Limited, Lucky Cement Limited, Century Paper and Board Mills, FFC, Nimir Industrial Chemicals, Gharibwal Cement, Fauji Cement Company, Treet Corporation and Pakistan Telecommunications resisted pressure and registered gains, while Pak Oil Fields, PPL, OGDC, Engro Corporation, ICI Pakistan, Adamjee Insurance, MCB Bank, PSO, Thal Limited and Attock Refinery suffered losses and closed in minus column.
The losers were ahead with the gainers, as out of a total of 120 companies, 20 showed strength and were closed in green zone, 37 suffered losses, while 63 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels. Among the gainers, Millat Tractors Limited gained Rs 5.93, Lucky Cement Limited was improved by Rs 1.25, Century Paper and Board Mills was appreciated by Re 1.00, while FFC, Nimir Industrial Chemicals, Gharibwal Cement, Fauji Cement Company, Treet Corporation and Pakistan Telecommunications were up by paisa-0.52, paisa-0.34, paisa-0.21, paisa-0.20, paisa-0.15 and paisa-0.10, respectively.
Among the losers, Pak Oil Fields shed Rs 4.68, PPL was declined by Rs 3.40, OGDC lost Rs 2.20, while Engro Corporation, ICI Pakistan, Adamjee Insurance, MCB Bank, PSO, Thal Limited and Attock Refinery were down by Rs 2.09, Rs 2.00, Rs 1.45, Rs 1.18, Re 1.00, paisa-0.67 and paisa-0.62, respectively.
