Ukraine continues to send relief goods for the 2010 flood victims, as the second consignment of humanitarian cargo was received by Brigadier Sajid Naeem, Member Operations, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), from Ukraine Ambassador Ihor Pasko at Chaklala Airbase early this week, according to a message received here on Wednesday.
The relief shipment inventory included 7,000 pieces of blankets. Earlier during the first week of May, Ukrainian government had sent 13,050 kilograms of relief goods for the flood victims comprising 7,000 blankets, 1,000 winter jackets and 57,919 packs/flasks of medical preparations.
This expression of solidarity and gesture of goodwill by the friendly country of Ukraine would be instrumental in strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries. Engr. M. A. Jabbar, Chairman, Standing Committee of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI) on WTO and R&D Cell, complimenting the embassy of Ukraine in Pakistan, said there existed a big potential of business between the two countries. To alleviate the difficulties faced by people on account of natural calamities including floods needed to serve as business proposing agenda, to the mutual benefit of both the countries, he said.
