Regional Police Officer (RPO), Aftab Ahmed Cheema and Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Fesco have decided to take strict action against the elements involved in theft of Fesco installations. In this connection, RPO has issued directives to the District Police Officers to make arrangements for checking and extensive patrolling to discourage the theft of Fesco installations in Faisalabad region. This was decided in a meeting held here between RPO and CEO, Fesco.
The Chief Executive Officer Fesco informed the RPO that incidents of theft of Fesco installations have increased manifold during 2009-10 Fesco property including wires, transformers and other gadgets worth Rs 35.5 million were stolen in 431 incidents. Similarly, during first 9 months of 2010-11, 379 incidents of theft were reported in which Fesco property worth Rs 41 million were stolen.
He said that this situation was not only alarming for the company but was also a matter of concern for the consumers. He said that Fesco administration has directed night patrolling and as a result of this step a gang was rounded up while trying to take away 200-KVA transformer from Jhang Road, but they managed to flee after leaving a transformer and other gadgets loaded on a truck No FDS-1503. The truck and stolen goods were handed over to the police. Jhang Bazar police had registered a case.
Similarly, in Jhang circle staff of Civil Lines sub-division with the help of local residents caught three persons Mumtaz Hassan, Munir-ul-Munir and Azhar along with a motorcycle No JG-388. Chief Executive said that police had to make pains taking efforts to trace the hidden hand in order to completely crush the gangs involved in these crimes.
Chief Executive also nominated Chief Engineer O&M Shakeel Ahmed as focal person to remain in contact with the police. RPO termed theft of Fesco installations as a national crime and said that strict action would be taken against them. He also nominated SSP range crimes police Rana Muhammad Hussain as focal person and directed him to remain in touch with all DPOs and suggest practicable measures to check theft of Fesco installations. He will also remain in touch with Fesco officials and provide district wise detail of cases with progress of the same. Chief Engineer O&M Shakeel Ahmed, Manager Operation first circle Khalid Rasheed and Manager Operation second circle Ghulam Rasool were also present at meeting.
