On the occasion of ZTBL Golden Jubilee, I wish to extend my greetings to the farmer's community and to the employees of the ZTBL for their services in developing the agriculture sector in the country. I also extend my compliments to the management of the ZTBL for their role in taking up the challenging tasks and supporting the cause of reforming and redirecting ZTBL and taking it to right direction towards achieving the purpose for which t was created.
Agriculture sector is the back-bone of our economy contributing about 22% to our GDP and 60% in our exports and is a main source of employment for the rural community with 45% share in total employment of the country. I understand that our strength and future lies in agriculture and if appropriate policies and measures are taken for the development of this sector, we would be able not only to feed our population but would also export sizeable amount of agricultural products. ZTBL has an important role in bringing this dream a reality.
My Government attaches high importance and provides every support for the development of agriculture for its valuable contribution to GDP & food security of the rapidly growing population. Since timely, supervised and well intended credit is key element for improving agricultural productivity, we are favourably considering to enhance our efforts and resources for this important life line. In the end, I would like to congratulate ZTBL with the hope that it will continue to give its best to our farming community to attain the excellence in agricultural sector.
