Abbottabad operation biggest tragedy after Dhaka fall: Chaudhry Nisar

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday described the US sting operation in Abbottabad last Sunday night to kill bin Laden as 'biggest tragedy' after Dhaka's fall. Talking to media persons outside Parliament House, he referred to the Thursday's policy statement given by Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani, saying that Pakistan is a democratic country and such policy statement should came from civilian government.
He said that the military leadership stance on the Abbottabad incident was entirely different to that of the civilian government, which is dubbing the incident as a great victory. He described the US unilateral operation in Abbottabad as most tragic incident after the Dhaka fall for the country, saying that silence of the rulers was beyond comprehension, which shows that government was concealing facts regarding Abbottabad operation.
He was of the view that rulers had lost right to govern, as the incident put a big question mark on their loyalty. "Zardari should wake up from the deep slumber," he said, adding that the silence of the Interior Minister over the incident is also putting question mark on his patriotism.
"US President Obama was directly monitoring the operation and after that he took the nation into confidence while President of Pakistan was sleeping unaware of such a significant development," Chaudhry Nisar said, adding that the 'criminal silence' on the part of government over US action was nurturing speculations and deepening the sense of desperation among the masses. He asked the rulers to make it clear whether they were with the people of Pakistan or with the US.
Nisar alleged that Abbotabad incident and CIA operative Raymond Davis saga were interlinked, adding that at the time when law enforcement agencies were capturing such covert operatives across the country, PML-N had demanded fair investigations and accountability of the apprehended ones, but government paid no heed to its demands.
He demanded a fair inquiry into the matter, saying the tragic incident demands resignation of some 'high personality.' He said PML-N would raise several questions of grave concern in the upcoming National Assembly session and the party would devise a comprehensive strategy upon return of Nawaz Sharif.
Nisar also demanded formation of some fact-finding committee to investigate the issues like Kargil war, Raymond Davis and Abbottabad operation. To a question regarding the ISI, Nisar said that he had a clear stance about Pakistani intelligence agencies that no one was above law.
