Abbottabad operation: rallies, demonstrations denounce US interference, aggression

Big rallies and demonstrations denouncing increasing US interference in the country, the martyrdom of Osama Bin Laden and spinelessness of Pakistani rulers marked countrywide protest observed on the call of Jamaat-e-Islami Chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, on Friday.
Addressing a huge congregation at Mansoora mosque, Syed Munawar Hasan warned Washington and its allies that terrorism would not come to end through a war against Islam and Muslims. On the other hand, this war would further increase hatred against them, more of Osama's would be born and the US tyranny, oppression and bias would spread flames of war to other areas as well.
Rallies were held in the Punjab capital, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Abbotabad, Peshawar, Multan, Karachi, Quetta, Khan, Naoshki, Turbat, Lasbela, Ziarat, Harnai and other places. Syed Munawar Hasan reminded Mansoora gathering that even in the past, the US had made false claims of having killed Osama Bin Laden. He said that every Muslim longed to be martyred in the way of Allah. Therefore, with the death of one Osama, many more Osamas would emerge. However, he said, Pakistani rulers' slavish mentality and begging attitude has lowered prestige of the country and the nation. Unfortunately, he said, Muslim rulers do not attach as much importance to the divine injunctions as they did to the orders from Washington.
He said the statement issued by the Corps Commander Conference to review the Pak-US ties in case of another such attack is not enough and the military leadership should ponder over its lapses and failings. Syed Munawar Hasan said, the nation is facing the present situation because of the pro-US policies of the rulers who had taken the US as god. The result is that neither our geographical borders nor our cities and houses are safe from US aggression, and every body in the country was protesting against the US highhandedness.
He observed that Abbotabad operation had also given a tongue to India who was also threatening to attack our cities and towns. He said the nation was rightfully questioning the military generals what was the use of having a large army if it could not defend them against the enemy.
The JI chief said that till now, the people had been kept under the false impression that the US was helping this country for economic progress and social uplift. However, he said, the woes and problems of the masses remained unsolved and instead their life have been made miserable.
The demonstration at Multan Road outside Mansoora was addressed by JI deputy Secretary general, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha and other leaders. The protestors carried placards denouncing US policies and interference in the country. They also raised slogans condemning the US state terrorism.
In his address, Dr Farid Piracha said that Washington should not remain under the impression that if the Muslim rulers were cowardly, Muslim masses would tolerate US aggression. Pakistani people, he said, knew how to defend their independence and they would foil the nefarious designs of US and India.
The rally in Rawalpindi was held outside the press club and was addressed by JI district chief Sajjad Ahmed Abbasi and others. The Peshawar rally began from the historic Masjid Mahabat Khan and was led by JI provincial secretary Shabbir Ahmed Khan. The Karachi rally was led by senior JI leader Professor Ghafoor Ahmed and Muhammad Husain Mehnati who also addressed the gathering.-PR
