Complete strike will be observed on May 18 in all hospitals, health centres, and Basic Health Units of Punjab, and sit-in will observed in front of Chief Minister House. Later the protesters will self-immolate. Protest demonstrations will be staged in front of press clubs of Multan, Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sargodha, said Paramedics Alliance Senior Vice Chairman A D Kanwal.
Children Hospital Unit President Muhammad Bashir Joiya, Cardiology's president Muhammad Amin Nishtar Hospital's President Iqbal Tair, Muhammad Tufail, Aleem-ullah Buzdar and Muhammad Arshad while addressing the rally. They said that Paramedics were serving without any service structure since the creation of Pakistan in Punjab only, while Paramedics of other provinces are enjoying service structure. They said that Punjab Assembly had approved service structure for grade 1 to 17 of Paramedical staff on February 2, 2010 which was later approved by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on February 9 but bureaucracy did not issue the notification of the structure. A delegation of Paramedics Alliance called on advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Zulfikar Ali Khgan Khosa, Punjab Minister for Food, Parliamentary Secretary Health, Chief Secretary Punjab and Secretary Health on April 3, 2011 and they assured to notify this structure within a week but this commitment has not been fulfilled yet.
Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association (PPSA) on Friday organised a rally from Cardiology Institute to Children health complex which was joined by the workers of Nishtar Hospital, Dental Hospital, EDO health office, District Officer (Health) Social Security Hospital, Children Hospital to press the authorities for framing their service structure.
