US MIDDAY: grain prices slump

Grain prices fell roughly 2 percent on Thursday to their lowest level in more than a month, but the losses by comparison trailed those for other major commodities that suffered their biggest rout since 2008. Analysts linked the sell-off to financial investors reversing long commodities/short dollar positions that had helped rally corn to a record high and soya and wheat to the highest since the all-time peaks in 2008.
At the Chicago Board of Trade at 1 pm CDT (1800 GMT), most-active July corn was down 16-1/2 cents at $7.13 per bushel. July wheat was down 14-1/2 cents at $7.57-1/2 a bushel and July soyabeans were down 29 cents at $13.23 a bushel.
