At least three persons, including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), were killed in separate incidents in various parts of the metropolis here on Wednesday. According to details, an activist of MQM was gunned down at Surjani area in the limits of Surjani police station.
The incident took place near Noor Decoration sector 5-D Surjani Town, where unidentified armed men, riding on a bike opened indiscriminate firing on 24-year-old Arif son of Irfan. Resultantly, he received bullet injuries and died on spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities.
Police said the victim was targeted when he was on the way to home from work. Police said that the deceased, who was an employee of garments factory, was an active worker of MQM. Following the said killing, tension engulfed the said area where shops and markets were closed. Police registered a case 236/11 against unidentified men on the complaint of victim brother Zeeshan and initiated the probe.
A bullet-riddled body was found from Lyari Nullah at Old Golimar in the limits of Pak Colony police station. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained. Police said the victim, whose hands were tied, received five bullets on his upper torso, adding that unidentified culprits kidnapped him and then gunned him down at Lyari Nullah.
The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for post mortem and later moved his body to Edhi Morgue for identification. No case was registered till filing of this report. In another incident, a youth was shot dead near Iqra School Gulistan Jauhar in the precincts of Gulistan Jauhar police station. The victim was later identified as 22-year-old Basharat Ali son of Gauhar Ali, a resident of Hussain Hazara Goth Gulistan Jauhar.
Police said that unknown armed men kidnapped him in the wee hours of Wednesday and managed to flee after shot him. Later, police found him in a critical condition at block 14 near Iqra School. He was shifted to nearby private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Later the body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities. Police said the victim was the employee of garments factory and had no affiliation with any political or religious party. No case was registered till filing of this report.
