Punjab University (PU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran presided over the prize distribution ceremony of annual sports of Oriental College, held here in the Sherani Hall of the College at Old Campus. Renowned test cricketer Abdul Qadir was the chief guest while Principal College Professor Dr Mazhar Moeen, Professor Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Professor Dr Kh. M Zakriya, faculty members and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
Dr Mujahid Kamran also inaugurated Day Care Centre at the College. Addressing the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran said hard work and dedication were required to get perfection in every field in the world. He said ideology was required as the basic need for any country's development. He advised the students to develop the habit of reading in them and said our youth was very talented and had the ability to perform for country's progress. Abdul Qadir, in his address, said educated youth of the varsities could also be the best leaders in playgrounds.
He asked the senior players to get retirement so that talented young players are provided opportunities. He said the players should play with unity so that fame could be earned for the country. He said female players have proved their faculties at international level. Professor Dr Mazhar Moeen gave a detailed briefing about the academic, literary and extra-curricular activities of the college. He thanked the vice-chancellor for taking keen interest in the academic development of the college. Certificates, medals and shields were given to the outstanding players. Kashif Sultan among males and Fareeha Cheema among females, were declared the best athletes.
