Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour Sher Azam Wazir on Wednesday said that government would take effective and result-oriented measures to end child labour and asked donor agencies and local non-governmental organisations to play their due role in this regard.
Talking to media persons, Provincial Labour Minister said that eradication of child labour was a big challenge for the provincial government due to a number of factors both local and international. He said that war like situation in the neighbouring Afghanistan, 2005 devastating earthquake, July 2010 floods had its fall out on the country in general and on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular.
Wazir said that Rs 14 million have been earmarked in ADP for eradication of child labour besides setting up child protection centres for deserving and orphan children across the province. He said that laws have been enacted to end child labour in the province that would play pivotal role in addressing the issue.
