The Lahore High Court while dismissing a petition against likely setting up of Sraiki province observed that courts could not restrain parliament from making new provinces. The petition was moved by a local citizen Ijaz who contended that establishment of Sraiki province would be against the ideological base of Pakistan besides it would spread provincialism. He prayed to the court to stop setting up of a province on basis of ethnicity.
