Accused involved in Birch club blast arrested: IG Sindh

Sindh police on Monday claimed to have arrested a suspect involved in Birch club blast. Inspector General Sindh Police Fayyaz Laghari told a press conference here on Monday.
He said a CID team, headed by SSP Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, on a tip-off raided a house on Super Highway near Northern Bypass and arrested a notorious terrorist, Mustafa Rehman Orakzai alias Yaqoob Commando son of Syed Rehman Orakzai after a brief encounter and recovered huge cache of weapons including 20kgs of high explosive material, one BM rocket, two hand grenades and a TT pistols with rounds from his possession. He said that a new terrorist-outfit 'Al-Mukhtar group' was involved in the rummy club blast that claimed 22 lives and injured over 50.
He said the blast was executed on non-payment of extortion money and added that the said terrorist group had asked for Rs 20 million as extortion money from the den owner but he refused to pay the same. Laghari said that Omer Baloch planned to carry out the blast in collaboration with Mustafa, Dawood and Abid after monitoring the security situation of the club. He said Baloch was the leader of the group and added that the group members, who had links with the other terrorist outfits in Wana and Waziristan, were trained there.
He said the bomb weighted around 2.5kgs of explosive material, was packed in an iron box and the detonator was connected with a mobile phone. He said that they planted the bomb under the gambling table on April 21 while playing and then exploded the same by making a phone call when they reached at Ranchore Lane Chowk.
Leghari further said that the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah had announced Rs one million for the CID team and added that raids were being conducted to arrest other culprits. Meanwhile, CID police claimed to have arrested five accused, allegedly involved in over a hundred targeted killings in the metropolis. The CID claimed that the arrested persons involved in various heinous crimes including killings, robberies and kidnapping for ransom.
IG Sindh in this regard said the group leader Liaquat Bangash alias Liaquat tension and his accomplices Faizan, Mohammad Azeem, Arshad Khan and Liaquat Yousufzai were arrested from Pehalwan Goth area, Gulistan-e-Jauhar along with three hand grenades, four Kalashnikovs and a repeater. He claimed that the group was involved in over a hundred targeted killing incidents in Pehalwan Goth, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Sharah-e-Faisal and Airport.
