Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday advised Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmaker Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi to introduce amendments in the rules of procedure and conduct of business in the National Assembly for allocating specific time for all members in the house to speak on national issues.
Rizvi, while speaking on a point of order raised objection over what he said that the entire house has been made hostage in the name of the rules by Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Leader of the House, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani by taking most of the House's time while the remaining member were left with no time to raise important issues pertaining to their constituencies.
The MQM MNA remained furious throughout the house procedure on the long debate of the Leader of the Opposition and subsequent response by the Prime Minister. He said that all the members were supposed to raise important issues regarding their constituencies, but most of the time of the proceedings was consumed by Leader of the Opposition and also asked the chair to accommodate all the members judicially.
The Deputy Speaker observed that his (Rizvi) point is valid and would be taken up in next advisory committee meeting of the House. He also advised the member to bring amendments in the rules of the house business. Meanwhile, lawmaker belonging to minority community, Akram Masih Gil staged walk out from the House saying that the government did not announce holiday for Christian serving in the government departments on the eve of Easter and Good Friday.
