President Asif Ali Zardari said that PPP is the only major political force in the country, which could provide a lead in steering the country out of the difficult times and reiterated that the party and the government while pursuing the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto of political reconciliation would continue its forward march to underpin democracy, strengthen state institutions and restore socio- economic stability in the country.
The President said this while addressing Party Parliamentarians and office bearers from Sargodha Division at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday night. The President said that PPP believes in the politics of the people, which he said is an asset and strength of the party and added that the government will fulfil all promises made to the people, and continue with the pro- poor and pro- workers policies. He asked the party workers to follow this policy and not to be discouraged or distracted by negative and hostile propaganda against the Party.
The meeting of PPP Sargodha division was also attended by Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Federal Minister for Commerce, Dr Firdos Ashiq Awan, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Syed Naveed Qamar, Federal Minister for Privatisation and Water and Power, Imtiaz Safdar Waraich, President PPP Punjab, Tasneem Qureshi, Senator Jahangir Badr, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Farzana Raja, Chairperson BISP, Fouzia Habib and Rukhsana Bangash.
The President said that the country was faced with huge challenges that include economic stress, energy crisis, rising inflation and the war against militancy and extremism but equally strong is our resolve and expressed the hope that we would turned triumphant together with the help of the people of the country.
The President said that the people had reposed great trust in the PPP and we all must strive individually and collectively to rise to their expectations. He asked Party MPs and office bearers to gear up and reach out to the people in their respective areas and help resolve their problems and difficulties with eyes on the forthcoming general elections in 2013.
The Party MPs and office bearers present during the meeting spoke on host of issues including current political situation, coalition matters and alliance adjustment and raised issues relating to their constituencies. The President assured them that their issues concerning their constituencies would be forwarded to the Government for early redressal. The meeting reposed full confidence in the leadership of the PPP Co- Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari.-PR
