No one would disagree to the opposition leader Chaudhary Nisar Ali that the way the country was being ruled by the present government was posing serious threat to the system. He exposed for the first time from where this threat is emanating and how some forces are trying to cash the situation of bad governance of ruling party.
BAD GOVERNANCE POSES THREAT TO SYSTEM: Without mincing words, opposition leader made it explicitly clear that agencies are now approaching the politicians including some of his party members as well. Opposition leader said that he was aware of the contact being made by the agencies and if need arises, he would be ready to share the details with the Parliament.
To strengthen his arguments, he sarcastically referred to the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan as "test tube politicians" who has staged a sit-in recently against drone attacks in Peshawar on the behest of agencies. Political analysts believe that panic of Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader was legitimate because of growing isolation. As on the one hand, the widely dubbed as unholy alliance between ruling Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (Q) meant for protecting their vested interests may try to destabilise the provincial government while on the other hand growing popularity of Imran Khan especially, among the young voters could affect the vote bank of PML-N in Punjab.
Analysts say that the youth of the country has fed up with the ongoing politics of vested interest and may support PTI in the next elections. A politician of Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan stature was mindful of the situation and wanted the government to mend its ways before it becomes too late.
And in doing so, he reminded the government that the policies to escape from the real issues and good governance could invite the forces to manipulate the situation for a change for which the ruling elite would be responsible. The focus of the opposition leader speech was more on role of agencies in the politics and wanted the Prime Minister to make them work within their prescribed role in the constitution.
But he was looking totally disappointed on the Prime Minister's advice "try to understand your power as an elected member." Who was more aware than the opposition leader, Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan as far as power of an elected member was concerned because he might still have the disturbing memory that how a heavy mandated Prime Minister was thrown out of the power. So, he was urging to the government that the only way to protect the democracy was to make the parliament a meaningful institution to deliver on the real issue.
But unfortunately, by and large perception, and rightly so, is that the ruling party track record during the last three years demonstrates least interest in making the parliament sovereign as it was more concerned about protecting their vested interest and to complete their tenure of five year. The performance of the government was so poor on all the fronts including the economy and law and order situation that people may feel happy on another set up to replace it. This of course the major opposition party does not want to happen but at the same time is reluctant to act in a way to be held responsible for destabilisation of the system.
May be that is why, Nisar stated that previously opposition was providing shoulder to the agencies but now the government would be responsible for the drama as opposition, especially, his party did nothing during the last three years to destabilise the system and was totally against the interference of army and agencies in the politics and also conveyed to the army top brass during the meetings with them.
Dispelling the impression that his party was against the new provinces, he said that the method to create new provinces was available in the Constitution and regretted that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif statement was presented in a totally out of context to create confusion.
